Nero d'Avola Terre Siciliane DOC

NEW VINTAGE - Deep red with purple tones. The nose provides a mix of red cherry and raspberry. The palate is true to the nose with primary red berry and a mineral like acidity. A medium bodied profile is rounded by subtle tannins and a fruity finish.

The vines are grown on the Gibellina hills, 100-300 m.a.s.l. Density of plants 3800 - 4200 x hectare, on shallow soils of medium texture calcareous clay with a good content of organic matter and iron.

100% Nero d’Avola harvested by phenolic ripeness. Fermentation is conducted for 12-15 days at 24-30°C with daily pump-overs and 1 delestage. The wine is matured in stainless steel tanks and minimal oak contact to preserve fruit freshness.

Decanter 2015 "Commended"

The vineyards of Tenute Orestiadi   stretch out between the gentle hills that open onto the Belice Valley and the sea of the ancient Selinunte.  The wines are produced in these lands, full of history and profoundly scarred in 1968 by an earthquake (6.3 Richter) that completely obliterated lives, identity and places. The name of Tenute Orestiadi evokes distant myths and legends, like the one of Orestes which thanks to Aeschylus, twenty centuries ago, were brought to the stage. In Sicily, the history of the windmills and wine are linked by the wind, an essential element for the health and quality of the grapes. Its presence helps mitigate the hot summer temperatures thus contributing to the incredible climatic variations essential for the life cycle of the vineyards.
