Food Match:  Some wines were just meant for food — the wines from Ribera del Duero are among them. Delicious with smoked meats and cheeses in particular.

A deep ruby red colour with aromatic black fruit notes. The Seleccion 2009 by Ribera del Duero contains a strong personality and interesting milky almost creamy aromas on the nose. High quality vanilla and cocoa are evident. On the palate this wine is smooth and elegant and decanting is recommended prior to drinking. A long finish that satiates the palate.

During production, the Seleccion 2009 is stored in two separate barrels for 16 months. 75% in french oak and 25% in american oak.

This Seleccion 2009 is also winner of the 91 pts Robert Parker award!

Ribera del Duero is located in Spain’s northern plateau, north of Madrid along the Duero Rive and is considered an wine-producing area of significance.

95% of the grapes  grown in this red wine region are Tempranillo. Ribera Del Duero is famous for its extreme and diverse temperatures ranging from –18C to and the quality of its rich, meaty red wine selections. Alternating layers of limestone, marl and chalk under silt and clay topsoil add complexity and character to Ribera del Duero wines.

The capital of Ribera del Duero is the historic town of Aranda de Duero, which boasts a series of antique underground cellars (bodegas) built to store wine. The interconnecting cellars reach a depth of 40ft (12m) in places. And in 1982 Ribera Del Duero was awarded DO status.
