A genuine characteristic expression of the Sangiovese variety. This Chianti Classico has a deep ruby red colour and density. Clean, vinous sensations appear on the nose, sweetened by hints of spices and ripe fruit. The taste is a both sweet and dry.

This wine is matured in french oak barrells for ten months follwed by a further 3 months in the bottle.

Best served at 16 degrees C.

Wine production in Poggio Bonelli has been carried on since the 16th century. Sought after by the most prestigious noble families of Siena, the Poggio Bonelli estate was run by different owners in the course of the centuries. Poggio Bonelli is now part of a large property (including the Chigi Saracini Farm) called MPS Tenimenti. The property consists of 2300 acres of land (most are arable lands and olive plants).

The Terroir of Castelnuovo Berardenga helps in producing wines that tend to be most ripe and richest  tasting, differently from other areas of the Chianti Classico where wines could have a very delicate aroma  and flavour, or characterized by their structure, firm tannins and concentrated flavours.

Temperatures are 1 /1,5 degree Celsius (average) higher than in the northern part (close to Florence) and the soil is mainly characterized by some tuff and clay components with underneath a rock skeleton part.
